Idiopathic Hypersomnia Day – 13 June 2026

Idiopathic Hypersomnia Day (IH Day) is a global awareness day focused on increasing understanding of idiopathic hypersomnia (IH).

IH Day is an opportunity to raise awareness, share lived experience, challenge misconceptions, and build greater understanding of what it is really like to live with IH. Increased awareness is a critical step toward improving diagnosis, access to treatment, and quality of life.

Hypersomnolence Australia is proud to continue this work as part of a global effort, in partnership with the Hypersomnia Foundation. Together, we are working to strengthen awareness, reduce stigma, and support progress in research and care. This year’s theme is “Where in the World is Idiopathic Hypersomnia?” Join the global IH community

This year’s campaign brings together people living with IH from across the world, a visible reminder that no one

is navigating this condition alone.

The “Where in the World is IH?” campaign invites people to take part by adding themselves to a growing global picture of IH.

Through campaign graphics and shared participation, individuals are represented across countries, building a collective snapshot of the global IH community.

Building a global picture

This campaign builds on our Living with IH Around the World initiative launched during IHAW.

In 2025, people from 32 countries — including 40 US states, took part, creating one of the first visible snapshots of where people with IH are living around the world.

In 2026, we are continuing that work.

Every person who takes part helps to:

  • Strengthen the visibility of the IH community

  • Show the global reach of this condition

  • Build connection across countries

  • Make IH harder to overlook

Take part

Getting involved is simple — and it matters.

You can:

For everyone who takes part in the Where in the World is IH? campaign, a pin will be added to the global map, helping to build a visible snapshot of the IH community around the world. Every person added to the map strengthens the message.

Why this matters

While awareness has grown, idiopathic hypersomnia is still widely misunderstood. Many people go years without a diagnosis, and even after diagnosis, awareness remains low, treatments are often limited and inadequate, and support and services are lacking.

This campaign is about visibility — because visibility leads to understanding, and understanding drives change.
