LIVING WITH IDIOPATHIC HYPERSOMNIA

Our primary purpose is to support the medical community work towards a better understanding of Idiopathic Hypersomnia, effective treatment options, and identifying biomarkers that will lead to more appropriate diagnostic tools and ultimately a cure for Idiopathic Hypersomnia.

Idiopathic Hypersomnia (IH), sometimes referred to as Idiopathic Hypersomnolence, is a neurological sleep/wake disorder characterised by excessive sleep and daytime sleepiness despite extraordinary amounts of good quality sleep. It is a debilitating condition often profoundly affecting work, education, and relationships.

The most important annual event for Idiopathic Hypersomnia is the Worldwide Idiopathic Hypersomnia Awareness Week® hosted by Hypersomnolence Australia. It is held annually from 1st - 7th June.
