Hypersomnolence Australia is on a mission to improve the lives of people with Idiopathic Hypersomnia. But we need champions of change to join us.
Why is your gift so important?
Hypersomnolence Australia do not charge membership and we do not receive any funding. HA is completely funded by the community. Your donation will help us continue to advocate for the needs of people with Idiopathic Hypersomnia and associated disorders of hypersomnolence and to provide support and information through our support services and ongoing education and awareness programs. It will also ensure that we can continue to host the International Idiopathic Hypersomnia Awareness Week. A worldwide initiative that Hypersomnolence Australia started in 2013. It will also help us to achieve other important events like the Idiopathic Hypersomnia and Narcolepsy Education Day on 24th October 2020. This first of its kind event will be held during the Australasian Sleep Australia’s annual Sleep DownUnder conference at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre (21-24 October). Sleep Downunder is a Scientific Meeting of the Australasian Sleep Association (ASA) and Australia and New Zealand Sleep Science Association (ANZSSA). This year is unique as it will run alongside the International Surgical Sleep Society Meeting and the International Pediatric Sleep Association’s Annual Congress making the BCEC the hub for sleep medicine and sleep science between 18-24 October 2020. Our Idiopathic Hypersomnia and Narcolepsy Education Day has been inspired by a very successful education day held at the World Sleep Congress in Vancouver 2019. It will be a patient focused event that invites medical professionals and patients and their friends and family where we hope both sides will learn from each other. We have invited an international speaker, Professor Yves Dauvilliers, MD, PhD, University of Montpellier, France and are fortunate to have esteemed Australian sleep clinician and researcher, Professor Ron Grunstein MBBS, MD, PhD, FRACP, Woolcock Institute of Medical Research, University of Sydney, Australia speaking at our event. With your support we can ensure this event is the best it can be at a extremely low cost of only $25 per ticket. It will also help us do more of them at other ASA Sleep DownUnder conferences around Australia! Please note we have not received a single cent in funding for this event. We are fortunate to have partnered with Sleep Disorders Australia (SDA) however SDA do not receive funding either. This event will be 100% funded by people affected by sleep disorders ie: without the support of our community there won't be another one. There are various ways you can support us. DONATE Hypersomnolence Australia's (HA) commitment to provide information, support and advocacy for Idiopathic Hypersomnia and associated disorders of hypersomnolence throughout Australia is strong but we can not do this alone. If HA has helped you, your family or friends, or you are a sleep health professional and you believe as we do, that HA is a necessary service for people with Idiopathic Hypersomnia and associated disorders of hypersomnolence, providing a donation will help us continue into the future. No amount is too small, every dollar is greatly appreciated as it helps to ensure we can continue to provide quality information and support to patients, carers and the health care community. All donations over $2 are tax deductible.
